Mission Trails Regional Park
Mission Trails is located where San Diego (San Carlos, La Mesa, and Santee meet. The Visitor Center is on the San Diego side of Mission Gorge Rd. A hiker’s paradise with trails that cater to every skill level. They don't give out a pin any more, but you can still do the 5-Peak Challenge. In addition to the hiking there are quite a few activities and events in Mission Trails. They even have a campground.
Cowles Mountain
I think this Cowles Mountain is the most hiked trail at Mission Trails. Tackle this moderate hike for panoramic views that make the climb totally worth it.
